President Barack Obama delivers an address to the American people on U.S. policy and the war in Afghanistan during his visit to Bagram Air Base early Wednesday. Obama said the goal of defeating the al Qaeda network was within reach, more than a decade after the September 11 attacks.Obama made a surprised visit to Afghanistan . His speech involved his plan to end war in the country and the steady decline of U.S. troops. The goal is to pull 23000 soldiers by the end of the summer. Also, security will be fully turned over to Afghans in 2014. The Afghan military will start to carry out there own missions, while our military will train them. NATO predicts the military will be able to successfully complete missions by that time. Obama and the afghan president signed an agreement outlining the cooperation. http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/01/politics/afghanistan-obama/index.html?hpt=us_c2
